Therapeutic Botox
It’s important to us that both you and your child feel comfortable in our care.
Unlike cosmetic Botox treatments, therapeutic Botox is used to treat chronic and/or acute orofacial pain caused by Bruxism, the clenching and grinding of teeth. Bruxism usually occurs at night as a result of stress, sleep apnea or imbalances in the way teeth come together. People may also brux during the day, usually while stuck in traffic or working at the computer.
Benefits of Therapeutic Botox
Whether the bruxism occurs during the day or at night, the overworked muscles can be very painful. Massage therapy, physical therapy, chiropractic therapy, and nighttime oral devices can help, but their results are usually temporary. Botox injections will help relax the jaw muscles and alleviate pain for 3-4 months, day and night.
